Gulf Shores native Whitmer Thomas is a comedian, musician, writer and actor seen in shows like ShrillGLOWThe Good PlaceThe Walking DeadSearch PartySlip, and I Think You Should Leave, as well as Lynn Shelton’s 2019 film Sword of Trust, which was shot in Birmingham. Filmed at the Flora-Bama, his 2020 HBO special The Golden One (executive produced by Bo Burnham) received rave reviews for its blending of live musical comedy and documentary storytelling. In 2020, Thomas found further viral success with ‘Big Baby’ and its sequel, ‘Big Baby Christmas’ across YouTube, Twitter, and Instagram, where the musical skits have accrued hundreds of thousands of views. His latest EP Can’t Believe You’re Happy Here is out now and his new film which he co-wrote and co-stars in with best friend and collaborator, Clay Tatum, called The Civil Dead won the Audience Award at Slamdance is now available to stream on Hulu, Paramount+, and Amazon. Most recently, Whitmer could be seen with Tim Robinson on the I Think You Should Leave live tour and in the film Am I Ok? with Dakota Johnson and written/directed by Tig Notaro, now streaming on HBOMax.
